How getting adaptations works

Through the Motability Managed Adaptations Programme, we handle the process from assessment to fitting.

  1. Get an independent assessment

Before choosing a car, visit a Mobility Assessment Centre. Occupational therapists and technical specialists will advise which vehicles and adaptations suit you.

  2. Talk to our Motability Specialist

We'll confirm whether your adaptations are eligible for the Managed Adaptations Programme and help you choose the right car.

  3. We arrange the fitting

Order your adaptations with your car and we'll arrange the alterations on your behalf, ready for collection.

Who pays for adaptations?

Many Motability Scheme adaptations are available at no additional cost, provided they're fitted at the start of your lease.

You may pay extra if adaptations are added later, or fitted to larger vehicles. Our adaptation partners can confirm pricing for your needs.

Can't afford the adaptations you need? The Motability Foundation may be able to help.

Adding adaptations during your lease?

If modifications aren't covered by the programme, or you need them mid-lease, make sure they're covered by your insurance.
